SURVEY: Help Shape the Future of Plymouth’s Seafood Industry

When you enjoy locally caught seafood, you’re not just eating a meal - you’re connecting with a story that stretches from our wild ocean to your plate. Every dish supports a living heritage that defines our city and contributes to a resilient, sustainable local economy.

But since the unexpected closure of Plymouth’s fish market in May 2024, our local fishing fleet and community has faced unprecedented challenges. With a portion of the fresh catch now transported to other markets, costs for fishermen and local businesses have increased, and unnecessary road miles have been added to the journey from sea to plate.

Alongside the The Plymouth Fishing and Seafood Association (PFSA), we are building a campaign to champion Plymouth-landed fish, ensuring that our local industry remains strong and sustainable. As part of this, we have launched a public survey - and your views matter.

By completing the survey, you’ll also be entered into a prize draw to win a £150 voucher for a seafood meal at one of the participating restaurants in the Plymouth Seafood Discovery Tour (3–18 October).

Your insights will help shape PFSA’s future strategy, building on ongoing work to keep Plymouth fishing and ensuring our waters continue to benefit the entire community.
